Overview

The Corporate Benefits Manager designs, implements and administers the company’s employee benefits strategy for a 650 benefit-eligible organization to attract, retain, and engage talent while controlling costs and ensuring compliance. With the partnership of the Corporate HR Director, this role has primary ownership of self-funded medical and ancillary plans, and may perform HR generalist duties to improve HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Corporate HR Director to develop and execute the overall benefits strategy aligned with organizational goals and budget.
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of health and welfare benefits, including medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, COBRA, disability, life insurance, EAP, leaves of absence, retirement plans (401(k)), and voluntary benefits.
  • Administer leave and disability coordination, including FMLA, ADA, and work-related injury processes, and serve as an escalation point for complex claims and employee issues.
  • Oversee relationships with brokers, carriers, TPAs, benefits technology vendors, and consultants; negotiate contracts and manage renewals.
  • Ensure benefits programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and HIPAA, and maintain accurate plan documents and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs).
  • Partner with the broker to design and execute open enrollment and new-hire enrollment processes, including employee communications, educational materials, and decision-support tools.
  • Monitor plan performance, utilization, and cost drivers; develop and present cost-containment strategies and alternative plan designs.
  • Lead benefits-related HRIS and payroll integrations and oversee benefits data accuracy, reporting, and audits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated benefits questions and complex employee issues; provide guidance, training, and support to HR Directors.
  • Measure and report on benefits metrics, costs, and ROI; provide regular executive updates and recommendations.
  • Provide HR Generalist support as needed, including operational projects in coordination with the Corporate HR Director.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administrations, Finance, or related field required.

 

Experience: 

  • 5 + year’s of progressive benefits experience, including plan design, vendor management, compliance, and benefits administration required.

  • Familiarity with wellness strategy and cost-containment programs (case management, disease management, narrow network).

  • 15% travel may be required

  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and HIPPA
  • Experience with benefits administration platforms/HRIS and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to create clear employee communications.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with benefits modeling, benchmarking, and cost analysis.
