Overview

NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals (NPH) is a national leader in providing inpatient acute psychiatric care through our eight free-standing hospitals. As we prepare for significant growth and strategic transition, we are seeking a Vice President of Strategy & Development to help shape the next phase of our organization’s evolution. This executive leader will serve as a key architect of corporate growth, responsible for advancing strategic initiatives, joint ventures, and expansion projects across the enterprise. The VP will partner closely with the CEO, CFO, and other senior leaders to identify and execute opportunities that drive sustainable growth, including new facility development, acquisitions, real estate investments, and service line expansion. This role is both visionary and hands-on, requiring a strong strategic lens as well as disciplined execution to deliver projects from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Development

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of new business opportunities, including joint ventures, acquisitions, and de novo hospital development.
  • Drive expansion strategies in acute psychiatric services and explore adjacent service lines in behavioral health.
  • Conduct market analysis to assess new geographic opportunities and competitive positioning.

Capital Projects & Real Estate

  • Oversee planning and execution for new hospital construction, facility renovation, and capital repair projects.
  • Partner with operations, finance, and clinical leaders to ensure capital development projects align with long-term strategy and operational needs.
  • Evaluate and manage real estate investments in support of growth.

Partnerships & Transactions

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with health systems, payors, and community organizations to expand NPH’s presence and market relevance.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and private equity partners on corporate development initiatives and growth opportunities.
  • Support due diligence, valuation, and integration efforts for acquisitions.

Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership team on corporate growth strategy.
  • Provide clear, data-driven recommendations on business development initiatives.
  • Ensure strong cross-functional collaboration between operations, finance, and clinical leadership in the execution of growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred.

 

Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare strategy, business development, or hospital operations.

  • Demonstrated success leading new hospital development, acquisitions, and joint ventures within behavioral health or related healthcare sectors.
  • Strong track record of managing capital projects, including facility construction and renovation.
  • Experience partnering with private equity investors or participating in healthcare M&A strongly preferred.

  • Strong financial and analytical skills with experience in market analysis and valuation.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
