Overview

Our Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake is looking for a Facility Accountant Assistant in the Houston area. The Facility Accountant Assistant is responsible for performing specialized clerical and accounting tasks, with a focus on accounts payable, receivables, and financial recordkeeping at the facility level. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintains organized records, and assists in various functions to support the facility’s financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Enter and verify financial data in accounting systems.
  • Assist with bank deposits, maintain patient banking records, and reconcile facility bank accounts as needed.
  • Support payroll processing, including balancing earnings and deductions and initiating fund transfers.
  • Compile spreadsheets and reports to assist in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Verify invoices, purchase orders, and receiving reports for accuracy before processing payments.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to purchasing, receiving, and vendor invoices.
  • Communicate with vendors, facility leadership, and corporate accounting staff to ensure proper financial procedures are followed.
  • Maintain organized financial records and ensure all documents are properly authorized.
  • Support facility leadership with financial tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to financial management and confidentiality.
  • Assist with audits, budget tracking, and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.  Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance field preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in accounting, finance, or healthcare-related financial operations preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and accounts payable/receivable procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable financial records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong data entry and file maintenance skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with numbers and meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
