Overview

Kalamazoo Behavioral Health, a member of the NeuroPsychiatric Hospital family, is looking for a Director of Clinical Services (MSW) to serve our patients and hospital leadership team in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  The Director of Social Services will have oversight of our brand new, inpatience acute psychiatric hospital's social service program and day-to-day oversight of program policies, procedures, and guidelines. Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains social services program, drafting supporting policies, procedures, and guidelines for the program.
  • Conducts psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members. Communicates with physicians to report patient progress, needs, concerns, and potential and actual problems.
  • Provides short-term individual counseling, community resource planning, and crisis intervention.
  • Develops and coordinates an individualized discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and chart information to determine the patient's aftercare needs.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records, including clinical and progress notes, according to department policy.
  • Participates in planning and implementing quality improvement activities.
  • Provides positive customer relations in dealing with patients, families, physicians, fellow department employees, other hospital departments, referral resources, service agencies, and others.
  • Provide backup services for incoming assessment and referral calls.

Qualifications

  • Master’s of Social Work (MSW) is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant health care and mental health experience as a social worker, counselor, or within social services
  • Must have a Clinical Social Worker Licensure (LCSW or LSW) by the State of MI.
  • BLS and Crisis Prevention Intervention certifications obtained during orientation.
